Thermometers
What is Fahrenheit?
Fahrenheit is the temperature scale proposed in 1724 by, and named after, the physicist Daniel Gabriel Fahrenheit. Within this scale, the freezing of water into ice is defined at 32 degrees, while the boiling point of water is defined to be 212 degrees. The Fahrenheit scale was replaced by the Celsius scale in most countries during the mid to late 20th century. Fahrenheit remains the official scale of the United States, Cayman Islands and Belize. The Rankine temperature scale was based upon the Fahrenheit temperature scale, with its zero representing absolute zero instead.
How to convert Celsius to Fahrenheit?
(9/5)*Celsius+32 = Fahrenheit
What is Celsius?
Celsius, also known as centigrade, is a scale and unit of measurement for temperature. It is named after the Swedish astronomer Anders Celsius (1701–1744), who developed a similar temperature scale. The degree Celsius (°C) can refer to a specific temperature on the Celsius scale as well as a unit to indicate a temperature interval, a difference between two temperatures or an uncertainty.
How to convert Fahrenheit to Celsius?
(5/9)*(Fahrenheit-32) = Celsius
What are some uses for Thermometers?
Besides determining the temperature, thermometers can be used for a multitude number of applications. They are commonly used in the lab to monitor test tubes, reagents, and various chemicals in beakers and flasks. In the kitchen, a thermometer can reveal the internal temperature of food instantly so you can eliminate the guesswork. It is an ideal tool for any level cook. It is great for roasts and rotisserie foods as well as hamburgers, poultry, chops, and many other dishes. Many prefer digital thermometers due to the fact that the LCD gives a quick and accurate reading within seconds. Other applications include and are not limited to green house applications for soil and compost, refrigeration & heating, food & drink quality control.

We recommend anyone who is using mercury thermometers to replace them with high-tech accurate alternatives that are safe, non-toxic and environmentally friendly.
This glass alcohol thermometer is calibrated for partial immersion and measures a wide range of temperatures from –20ºC up to 150ºC .
The Non-mercury thermometers have a guaranteed accuracy of +/- 1.5 scale divisions for their entire usable range. These ranges are comparable to most mercury thermometers of the same type and range.
Non-mercury thermometers need to be stored upright or the liquid inside will separate. Instructions will be available for recombining liquid that has separated in a non-mercury thermometer.
Each thermometer comes in a protective plastic container.
Glass Alcohol Thermometer
Product Code: GAT20150
Usable Range: -20ºC to 150° C
Length: 30 cm (12 inches)
Calibrated for: Partial immersion
A partial immersion thermometer has a line around it at the immersion distance from the bottom. It indicates correctly when the bulb and liquid column to that line are exposed to the temperature being measured.
