Kit contents

Step 1:

Start off by inserting the eye screw into the 1 1/2" Bass Wood.

Step 2:

Glue the 1 1/2" Bass Wood on one end of the 7" x 1/2" x 1/2" Bass Wood.

Step 3:

Center and Glue the 3 1/2" x 1/2" x 1/2" Bass Wood on the opposite end.

Once that dries, glue the flat wood strips on the sides with the bottom ends lined up evenly with the table as pictured.

Step 4:

Once the glue dries, remove the backing on the adhesive side of your magnet strip and place it on the wood with the sides laying on the wood strips as pictured.

Step 5:

Insert an eye screw into one end of the wood dowel and then place the magnet rings on the ends. It's important that the polar sides should be facing the same way on both magnets.

Attach your thread or string to the two eye screws. Make sure you have sufficient string so that you can adjust it later on so the magnet rings levitate over the strips.

Step 6:

Here is where it gets a little tricky and we will need to do some adjusting and positioning.

Using one hand, grab the other magnet strip and put it under the inner magnet ring to see if the dowel levitates. If you see that you have no luck whatsoever, you will have to change the side of one or both of the magnet rings so they repel against the magnet strip.

Step 7:

Once you have success in finding the right polar sides so that that dowel with magnet rings repel and levitate, make a light mark with a pencil so that you can position and glue your other 3 1/2" x 1/2" x 1/2" Bass Wood.

Then repeat the same steps for attaching the flat wood strips and magnet strip.

Step 8:

Repeat the same steps for attaching the flat wood strips and magnet strip onto the Bass Wood.

Step 9:

Adjust the length of your strong so that the rings "float" over the magnet strips.

Step 10: (optional)

You may prefer to cut the magnet strips and wood pieces to give your finished kit a "cleaner" look. Use this example to get an idea of what it will look like.
